For legal and other reasons, we may collect different types of personal data about you when you are in contact with Hex, either online or in person. Here we outline why we need that information, and how we handle and store that data in order to keep it safe. This information may be updated as required to acknowledge changes in relevant data protection laws and will then be published here on our website.
Our privacy policy applies to any personal data that Hex collects in order to provide you with a service, whether repairs or sales. Hex manages how your personal data is collected, and the purposes for which it is collected, under GDPR data protection laws. If you require any more information on our privacy policy, please contact us by email on info@hexcs.com or ask our team at our repair centre at 14 Home Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9LY.
Personal data is any data that relates to you. We’ve outlined below the different types of data about you we may collect, use, store, or transfer:
We never collect any data about you that would fall under what are called “special categories”, such as political opinion, religion, health information, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Where we need to collect your personal data, either by law or under our terms and conditions, if you choose not to give it to us, we may not be able to provide you with the goods and services we offer.
To allow our skilled technicians to test properly how your device operates, before and after repair, we ask for your password details. We do not use it for any other purpose, and we do not access your personal data as part of any tests or repairs. We automatically delete the password after each repair.
We understand if you’d prefer not to share your password with us. However, we will need to wait till you return to collect your device after repair before completing the last test. This may result in a delay should your device need additional repair adjustments after the final check.
There are clear legal guidelines on how and when we can use your personal data. We may need your data so we can provide the services or goods you request; for the interest of our own business in offering you the best and most secure service; or for regulatory or legal reasons. More than one reason may apply depending on the service or product you request.
If you have purchased services or products from Hex or have us asked for information, you will receive marketing communications from Hex unless you have opted out from this. You can unsubscribe from such contact at any time.
Data protection laws like GDPR help you control how your personal data is used. You can request information from Hex on what data we store about you by providing your full name, details of what data you would like to access (including a timeframe), the email address you use to communicate with Hex, and any other information, such as job numbers, to help us locate your data. We can then forward a copy of any of your personal data details we hold.
If after contacting Hex, you are still unhappy with how we use your personal data and you believe it is contrary to data protection laws, you have the legal right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) via www.ico.org.uk or the ICO Scotland helpline on 0303 123 1115.
Hex takes the protection of your personal data seriously. We have stringent measures in place to safeguard your data against loss or damage, as well as accidental or illegal access. We constantly review our procedures to acknowledge and anticipate developments in information security.
