A SIM card ties a phone to a specific network provider, which means the phone can only be used with a SIM card from that network provider. Removing this lock means you can keep your existing phone and use it with any SIM card on any network.
It is a process of enabling your device to use different Sim card from different carriers.
Sim Unlocking is Absolutely Legal.
The first and most obvious way is to try using a SIM card from a different carrier. If your phone is locked, it will only work with a SIM card from the same carrier that it's currently locked to. However, if your phone is unlocked, it should work with any SIM card and you should be able to connect to your network.
Another way to tell if your phone is unlocked is once you insert your new SIM card to look for a message that says "SIM Locked" or ''Please enter network unlock code'' , and it means your phone need unlocking to become Sim Free.
If you purchased a brand new phone upright or took a contract with one of the major phone networks in the UK anywhere from December 2021 then all handsets should be factory unlocked. UK communications regulator Ofcom has set policies that will prevent any networks from being allowed to sell a phone that is not unlocked.
